Based in Loughborough, Leicestershire Loughborough Endowed Schools attract over 2,100 students and 600 staff. The schools are at the cutting edge of technological innovations but were experiencing limited throughput with their previous web filter. This was restraining their plans to introduce an ambitious 1:1 rollout of tablet computers for all teachers and staff.

Ensure CIPA compliance without over blocking

Recently Katrina Schwartz wrote an article for KQED News which highlights that many schools are in fact over filtering their internet access and as a result of this are blocking sites that could be used positively for education. The federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires that schools have Internet Filtering in place to block access to obscene content or anything which is deemed inappropriate, illegal or harmful.
