High Availability

For those who love uptime, Bloxx has Load Balanced High Availability and Fail Over High Availability options – giving you scalability and dependability. High Availability is only available for the TVT-500 appliances up.

Load Balanced High Availability

Bloxx provides a Load Balanced High Availability solution for optimal resiliance.

If you choose this option, two Bloxx appliances will be provided that can share the network load – if one unit is busy then the layer 4 switch will distribute the load to the other unit. Bloxx appliances are optimized to integrate easily with ClusterScale Load Balancing solutions; however, if you wish to use another supplier, Bloxx supports a wide range of other load balancing solutions.

Fail Over High Availability

Bloxx appliances can be paired together to provide a Fail Over High Availability solution to the Bloxx filtering service giving centralised management and reporting.

In the unlikely event the Bloxx appliance should fail, the appliances are always automatically synched meaning any changes that are made are rolled out to the second appliance. This protects your organisation from loss of Internet access.

The appliances in a Fail Over High Availablity setup form an “active-passive” relationship in which the active appliance is normally responsible for handling all Internet access from your organisation. The passive appliance will step in to provide the filtering service should the active appliance experience a problem that prevents it from handling outbound web traffic.

If you choose Fail Over High Availability, you’re improving resilience to your network whilst decreasing the need for management resource.
