Bloxx Appoints Industry Expert to Champion UK Enterprise Businesses

In August Martin Hallett joined our sales team as UK Enterprise Sales Manager to provide sales expertise to all our UK resellers who are focused on large enterprises.  In addition Martin will work on identifying and supporting strategic enterprise accounts to advance our significant growth plans which have already seen us become the world’s fastest growing web filtering company.

Hallett has over 25 years sales experience working for leading IT/network security publishers, such as West Coast Labs, a global leader in research, testing and certification for information security products and services, and SC Magazine, the IT security industry de facto publication. In these roles, Martin has established strong links with the vendor community in the UK which will bring substantial benefits to Bloxx, its resellers and enterprise businesses.

IT2Trust Security Summit 2009

On 16th September in Farum, Denmark, IT2Trust - Bloxx’s Danish distributor - is running its annual security summit.  This summit is an ideal venue for major IT companies to discuss and learn about today’s IT security issues. 

Bloxx will be presenting on Internet Filtering at 9.45am and 2.20pm, and will discuss the issues around secure Internet filtering and the unique benefits of its third generation filtering technology.  The full agenda for the summit called IT Security from a Higher Perspective is available here.

Bloxx Spotlight: Iain Slater, Bloxx Client Manager

Iain joined Bloxx back in January 2009 to support existing customers upgrade from CF appliances to new appliances powered by Tru-View Technology and address resilience in larger load customers. Iain, 27, is married with two children – Joshua aged three and a half, and Ailie aged seven months.

After a painful first year studying Mathematics and Sports at Canterbury Christ College, Iain changed his degree and graduated with a Physical Education degree from the University of Brighton.  He had some serious student loan debts due to a preference for warming the bar stool and not the lecture bench at uni, and so decided that teaching PE wasn’t for him. Instead he decided on a career in sales. 

Previously Iain has spent time selling office furniture, motor insurance and first aid courses. He moved to Scotland in 2005, when his employer opened an office in Dundee to expand sales of first aid courses.  He then had a successful career in Recruitment before meeting Eamonn and persuading him to give him a job in IT security – no mean feat.  He thoroughly loves his work, Bloxx and the people he works with.

Iain spends much of his spare time with his wife and kids - as long as they don’t want to watch a musical.  He is currently teaching his son how to ice skate. Iain loves having the occasional beer, playing his Xbox, watching the latest sci-fi or action movie at the cinema and listening to music - as long as it isn’t country.

Reseller Spotlight: George Curtis, Network Technology Solutions

NTS (UK) is a network and system integrator specialising in IT security, and providing advice and expertise to public and private sector organisations across the UK.  With offices located in London and Bradford, NTS focus on bringing innovative solutions and new technology offerings to market. 

George Curtis is Sales Manager based in the Bradford office and is responsible for driving sales in the West Midlands, North West England and West Scotland. George made the move to IT security when he joined NTS in 2007.  Previously he was an Account Manager for Trustmarque Solutions.

George graduated from the Leeds Metropolitan University where he studied Economics and spent 10 months getting over student life by traveling across Australia, New Zealand and South America. He started his working life in October 2005.

George, who is 28 years old, is in a long term relationship and is a committed sportsman.  He is player/manager of local five-a-side football team Boca Seniors.  They play every Wednesday if anyone is interested in joining the team or indeed providing much-needed sponsorship (once a sales man, always a sales man)!  George also plays second row for Burley RUFC since moving from Leeds in 2000. He says the highlight of his rugby career was playing against Paul Sculthorpe in a seven’s tournament.  Needless to say George’s team lost.
